Fight ICE

There is a wave of government-sponsored terror in 2025. We have all seen the horror of masked men kidnapping people in public places.

Do not stand by idly. From LA to DC, we have seen the impact of nonviolent citizen resistance. Kailua-Kona is a target, too. We need to show up to document and protest our neighbors' illegal apprehension as it happens.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has equipped three agencies within our homeland to conduct raids: ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), HSI (Homeland Security Investigations), and CBP (Customs and Border Protection). DHS leadership has given these agencies a quota of 3,000 daily arrests and instructed them to ignore federal, state, and constitutional law in terrorizing our communities.

Hawai‘i Police (HPD) should not be involved with federal agencies. Hawai‘i County has memorandums of understanding (MOU) with them. The details are confusing, so we are working to obtain the documents to provide more clarity on their relationship.

If you see any suspicious activity, please record it and report it.

    Why are ICE raids happening?

On July 4, 2025, the disastrous Big Ugly Bill was signed into law, giving DHS a budget larger than all but six militaries worldwide. DHS includes ICE, which must now fill quotas of 3,000 daily arrests. To meet these quotas, ICE is apprehending people indiscriminately using illegal vigilante tactics.

Even before the new funding, ICE was conducting raids on homes, schools, workplaces, and farms in Kona. The current administration would have you believe that they are ridding our streets of violent criminals.

To be clear, we want illegal violent criminals arrested and deported as well, BUT in reality, to meet the quotas, ICE has begun arresting:

    • People who have committed no crimes.

    • People who followed the rules when coming into the United States and applying for asylum.

    • People who have or have legally applied for green cards.

    • People with current legal student visas.

    • People who came to the country as children and qualified for protection under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

    • People who have been paying taxes in the US for years and not claiming benefits, while doing our backbreaking work in farm fields, slaughterhouses, and hotels.

    • United States citizens.

Not scary enough? Many ICE raids are being conducted by anonymous masked men with no identification. We must oppose these Gestapo tactics.

Be prepared to resist, document incidents, and protect our community.
