The Hawaiian archipelago consists of 132 islands, islets, and atolls, stretching roughly 1,500 miles from the northernmost Kure Atoll to the still-growing Big Island of Hawai'i at the southeastern end of the chain. Seven of its 132 islands are inhabited: Big Island, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau.
If you live in Kailua-Kona or Waikoloa, you reside on the West Coast of the 'Island of Hawaii' (aka Big Island) in the 'County of Hawaii', which is in the 'State of Hawaii'!… We agree, this can be confusing. In addition, district lines are different for County Council, State House and Senate and Congressional offices.
Kailua-Kona is represented in County Council District 6, 7, or 8; and Waikoloa in District 9. Click here for the complete overview of the 9 Hawai‘i County Council members.
Below, you will find the contact information for your representatives—the elected officials we vote into office and who ultimately work for us (“We, The People”) —at the local, statewide, and nationwide levels.
These officials depend on our input, their constituents, to understand how local, state, and federal actions may impact us. So, speak up! Stay engaged, be respectful, always vote, and demand action to create the world we want to live in.
Legislation is decided by those who show up, so we encourage you to submit testimony during the legislative process. Click here for resources on how to do it.
